Homeworld
Myca is from the Planet Thuliv, a small world on the edge of the Galaxy. The planet is rather inconspicuous, being a mostly continental world with a rather cold climate. While the Flora and Fauna is similar to those in the colder climates of Earth, the population differs a bit more. It mainly consists of anthrophomorphic mammals. Not every mammal on Thuliv developed sentience, but there are still different species, like Felines and Canines. Humans however are, likely due to the climate, not found on this Plant. The specific needs and instincts of the different species lead to wildly different cultures depending on which species dominate a region.
Nations formed by Wolfs for example often have very strong social safety networks and healthcare systems, motivated by their social nature and care for their packmates

Coyotes like Myca on the other hand fill another role in Thulian society. Other than Wolves, Felines or bears, Coyotes didn't develop a particular strength for hunting or survival. They don't hunt in well coordinated packs, aren't particularly big or strong and don't have specialised teeht or jaws to break bones and sever arteries.
Instead, they aim for the left-overs and gaps lefts by other animals, relying on their adaptability and trickery to survive.

While sentient Coyotes tend to be smarter and have more autistic individuals than other species, they aren't inherently tricky or deceitful.
However during the early development ages of Thulian society, many other species observed the behaviour of feral coyotes and made assumptions about sentient coyotes based on those observations.
Coyotes were *different*. In how they approach things, in how they lived and how they *acted*. The upcoming prejudices weren't helped by the fact that many Coyotes have autism, making them appear even more alien.
Sometimes, through boredom, distrust or superstition, conspiracy theories came to life,
inspired by the way Coyotes lived their life. Other than most people, Coyotes didn't build villages or cities focus around their own species, but instead often tried to find a place in existing societies of other species, many of them doing so while avoiding being the center of attention.

Unfortunately those conspiracy theories somehow sticked around through the ages, leading to targeted racism and persecution.

When Myca was born, Thuliv was comparable to Earth in the 2015s. Different Nations with different Technological evolutions and cultures, some of them in ongoing hot or cold conflict, racism and other bigotry still being an issue. Smartphones are slowly developing, as are robots and modern weapon system such as torpedoes, ICBMs and Radars to fire at moving targets.

Things changed once the Star Empire known as Combined Zarqlan Dominions invaded Thuliv.
History
Vocational
Service on the ISS Calamity
After her graduation, Myca worked on the ISS Calamity. She maintained the weapons used for self-defence and other parts of the ship, with a rather relaxed everyday life. During this time she was promoted to Staff Sergeant.
Service on the SC Determination
Once her brother died, she requested a transfer to the SC Determination where she was filling the role of a Lieutenant Junior Grade, being responsible for one of the many weapon systems of the cruiser. During the final fight in the war against that Spacenation, her heroic deeds got her promoted to Lieutenant. She continued to serve on this ship, now however responsible for a whole weapon section and occasional outside missions.
"Weapon Development"
After the Mission on the Luslaian Colony, Myca got promoted to Lieutenant Commander and hidden away in a lab to be researched, while being kept busy with Weapon Development.
Personal
Childhood
Myca was born as a little coyote girl, as part of a litter of three, a small, but healthy Litter.
Other than her brother and sister, Myca is autistic, which already turned into an issue quite early on. As it's usual for Coyotes, the siblings started to fight rather soon to establish a Hierachy. The smallest pup of the letter, Myca, had severe difficulties not only with social interactions, but also social instincts, and was negatively surprised by that, heavily disliking those fights. This wasn't helped by her size.

That caused her to, quite early in her development, to crawl into small spaces, like under or behind furniture, where her siblings couldn't reach her. This inclination would build the foundation as to how she picks her safe spaces.

She often took random things with her to take them apart or took things apart that were where she hid. When that, one day, was the compressor of the fridge, her father decided that the pack needs more outside time, throwing them into the garden as soon as the day began.
Myca, being rather sensitive to the Sunlight and absolutly not on board with sibling-fighting, eventually gave in to her instincts and dug a Den under a tree in their garden, to investigate the tree and hide. When the Tree started to lean dangerously close towards the house, her mother decided to intervene and got her back inside to play with mechanical models, meant for people considerably older than her, which satisfied her need for a hyper-fixation as well as her curiosity.

Soon the time for school came. With the noises and many people around, Myca had some difficulties catching up and often wrote bad marks.
This wasn't helped by the societal stance Coyote had in Thulian society or the fact that she, as autist, was perceived as *weird*.

At first, Myca retreated into herself. But soon, because of her mothers care for her interest and condition as well as a certain amount of spite, she decided to strike back. Now, given her physic and the issues coyotes were already facing, she had to use other methods.
Using Humor and Deception, she build a wall around herself.

The rest of her childhood, up until shortly before she finished the general education system with 15, was rather eventless.
The Invasion
While Thuliv was still divided into Nations and barely managing to send drones to the other planets in their own solar system, a species on Zarq, a planet in a nearby solar system, already managed to produce hyperdrives fast enough to reach Thuliv.

Once they arrived, they did not do so in Peace. The Combined Zarqlan Dominions is an Authoritarian Empire. And it attacked to conquer Thuliv.

Being faced with weapons further advanced than most of their own or even their theories had devastating effects on the Thulian society.
From depressions to breakdowns, anxiety and despair, a lot of psychological issues plagued the population, followed by the consequences of these emotions.
While many of the civilisation and those who deserted in face of an overwhelming foe preferred to hide or build bunkers to survive in, Myca had other plans.
Her family hid in the basement of their house, but Myca sneaked outside, sitting in the entrance of her childhood den, observing the night sky and all the fancy lights in them.
Tracer rounds almost whipping spaceships, Lasers connecting jets and korvettes for the blink of an eye, rockets propelling explosive yields towards metallic colossi, Plasma setting the sky ablaze and the lights identyfing the aircrafts to each other.
They all together painted a beautiful picture and awakened a new longing in Myca.

She wanted to see what makes those fancy lights. Wanted to see where they came from. Could she make lights like this too ? Electricity painting over an aircraft as the atoms where separated by the immense force of those weapons ?
And just how powerful can those machines get ?
How do other civilisations build their machines ?

And she set herself a new goal. Reaching for the stars and building machines just as powerful as them.
Under a new rule
Much to Myca's luck, and anyones on Thuliv really, the United Zarqlan Dominions might be an authoritarian Empire, but they are also a xenophile one. Aiming to unite all sentient beings in the galaxy under their rule, wether they want or not.

After the few days that the invasion took, the invaders rebuild most of the damaged buildings and replaced some of it with futuristic infrastructure living up to their standard.

The new Empire Thuliv was now part of, had not only developed FTL-Drives, but also androids and advanced automated systems.
This allowed them to replace many manual jobs with robots and allow those living within their borders to focus on anything a robot could not or should not do.
Like research, commanding or even holding a gun. While they never watched Terminator, the idea of a machine uprising seems to be universal.

Most had a hard time adjusting to the new rulers and what it meant to life under an authoritarian government. While this was also true for Myca's pack, the adaptability Coyotes are known for, allowed them to seamlessly integrate into the new society.
They still were able to follow their dreams or adjusted them slightly.

But Myca in particular profited a lot from the new rule. When she returned to school, the climate in class was very different. With guards regularly checking on them and their teachers either being replaced with loyal teachers or being accompanied by 'superiors' ensuring their compliance, many felt repressed and were very quite during class, moving little and paying attention as to not count as deviation. A fear that wasn't founded in reality, but through a culture shock.

Myca, being sensitive to sounds, was finally able to focus on class and went from being below the average to the best in class. That did, of course, attract the attention of the teachers and the Zarqlan Overseer.

Higher Education
By the time Myca finished her general education, about a year after the invasion, Coyotes had gotten a certain amount of fame within the Dominions. Their adaptability to changes made them desired in many different areas.

This came handy for the triplets allowing them to pick their higher education, and consequently their careers, more freely. While Myca's brother decided to join the infantry as an officer, her sister looked into biology, researching medicine, as well as utilising flora and fauna of other planets.
Myca decided to become an engineer, more specific a weapon engineers. She hoped to reach a point where she can decide wether she wants to stick her head into a machine or eye the stars and sometimes, sometimes create things that tear apart societies like the one that tried to break her while seeding the beautiful lights she saw in the night of the invasion.

Learning at the equivalent of a university was rather eventless. Myca learned about physics and engineering, preparing her to maintain, build and repair weapon systems commonly found on space ships.
Although the high command regarded Coyotes as *useful*, the bad reputation they had stuck around and was picked up by the invaders who weren't five star admirals.

Myca was used to these conditions however and kept using tricks, humor and her sassiness to keep herself safe.
Early Career
After finishing her studies with fairly good marks, Myca got a position as a weapons officer on a smaller multi-role ship tasked with reconnaissance, research and patrolling. Forming the 'backbone' of the empire, the job on this ship was rather eventless.

She maintained the weapon systems and all in all enjoyed her time on the ship, doing what she likes and admiring the stars in her free time, constructing little do-dads or optimising machines by the fraction of a promille.

Her tactic of keeping people she didn't like away was considerably easier by explaining that the machine she is working on could potentially vaporise half the ship if mishandled, greatly exaggerating the risk as to cause that, she would have to intentionally sabotage certain parts.

There was however one coworker, which didn't fall for her tricks and deception, being quite smart herself. She started a friendly competition with Myca, challenging her intellect.
The two slowly got closer and Myca for once allowed someone to peek behind her mask.
For a short while, Myca got a taste of how a deeper connection, similar like that to her mom, might look like.

That is, until she got bad news.
Tragedy
Several Months into her deployment, she got notified that her brother died on one of his missions, as an Empire that was attacked by the Dominions was more capable than expected.
Myca was crushed by this. She wasn't exactly the kind of person to go to the Cinema or drink with her siblings, but they were never the less very important to her.
Already struggling with the concept of death, Myca fell into a psychotic episode with dire consequences.
In a frenzy, trying to get her pain to end, she went on a quest to avenge her brother.

The fleet admiralty had serious issues when it came to accurately contributing the resources among the part of the galaxy under their control. To gain an advantage over their enemies, they run an advertisement, encouraging civilians and enlisted personal to volunteer to be moved to the corresponding front.

And Myca did exactly that.

She volunteered to be moved to a cruiser, a ship fine-tuned for battle. Rather than having just a few weapons for self-defence, the cruiser was full of weapons. Myca barely slept most of the time, working day and night, until she fell asleep. She spend every minute not busy maintaining and operating weaponry over-tuning the same.

Said 'hobby' or rather coping mechanism did lead to a few rebukes. While the weapons efficiency did improve, there were a fair amount of issues.
Myca for example managed to drastically increase the firerate of one of the ships autocannons, by simply using the casing as an alternative mean of heat dissipation, which makes repairing the weapon in a battle difficult, or by increasing the power draw by diverting energy from less important systems, such as life support, to the gun.

This dangerous behaviour ended in the last mission of this particular war. It was a huge space battle, with dozens of ships and even more loses.
During this fierce fight, a torpedo hit a critial section on the heavily damaged cruiser Myca was fighting on. A hit that would have cause a cascade like explosion, tearing the cruiser apart - would the torpedo explode. Luckily, the story didn't end here, as the torpedos detonator malfunctioned. But that didn't mean that the ship was clear, as the torpedo could still explode.
With all higher ranking officers being incapacitated, this fell into Myca's responsibility.

The torpedo hit the plasma generator, a room dedicated to superheating and electrifying matter for the ships plasma thrusters and it's plasma throwers, one of the most dangerous rooms of the ship. The immense heat and general hostility of this room during active usage would have caused any sane Weapon Officer to order an immediate retreat.
To little surprise, Myca did not do that.
She assumed that no one was willing to follow her order, so this Coyote shaped bundle of chaotic energy crawled into the crawlspace that was hit, to disarm the torpedo and repair any damages.
While she succeeded in saving the ship and allowing it to continue the fight, securing victory and a promotion to Lieutenant, being burned by plasma soon reminded her of her own mortality and the pain that brought her here in the first place.

When her wounds were treated on the infirmary, she was able to observe how the enemy flagship was hit and exploded in a huge fireball. With the pain of the burn preventing her from burying the pain of her loss and the end of those who killed her brother not delivering her the relief she was looking for, she broke down.
Recovery
After the war Myca, returned to Thuliv to recover and to receive a medal and rank. She barely managed to keep her composition, but her sister, who came to congratulate, managed to look through her fassade.

Myca stayed with her for a bit, as the two finally managed to connect over this difficult situation. Her Sister gave her a bit of stability and allowed her to figure out what she needs. Among other things, it was a place where she could put her brain to rest.
And Myca decided that the best place to do so was the crawlspace close to the plasma generator. No one was stupid enough to go there and and the control lights and glowing plasma had a calming effect.

As the time passed, Myca got herself together, through regular calls with her sister and ensuring she isn't always around other people, as not only the bullying but also the movement and sounds of other weren't too good for her.

The next few months were different. Being a higher rank, she not only had more responsibilities and on occasion was included in outside missions, but also had some more benefits.
Life was kind of good and had it's moments.

But it couldn't stay like that.
The Mission
Years after the Invasion of Thuliv, the United Zarqlan Dominions had picked yet another Star Nation to fight with, as they refused to comply with the request to give up many of their rights, claims and secrets in exchange for promises of safety and unity.

While the culture and technology from most Nations the UZD met and integrated into their Empire were based on electrical and mechanical tools, the Luslaian Utopia developed very different. Metals and artifical buildings were incredibly rare in their culture and on their planet, leading to them focusing on manipulating plants and animals according to their needs.
It started at breeding, eventually leading up all the way to genetical engineering on levels beyond what the UZD was able to grasp, not only letting trees and plants grown into solid weather resistant houses and perfectly efficient plants producing food and animals, but even growing weapons and spaceships purely out of weapons.

With weapons so alien that most personal didn't knew where to shoot and living ships adjusting their anatomy during a fight to produce different weapons and defence mechanisms, the UZD, for the first time in it's history, ran into a foe that poses a threat to them.

The UZD had a comparably huge space fleet, but the superior tech of their enemy caused huge losses. They were so serious that they threatened the Star Nations dominion over their sector, leading to rather desperate approaches.

Somewhere, deep, deep inside of the empire, in a room hidden deep below the earth and behind blast doors, a decision was made that went against the the Xenophile nature of the empire.
They ordered the use of a dangerous Bioweapon.
Unfortunately for Myca, the cruiser she served on was in the perfect strategical position to do so.

As it's usual with deployments of questionable legality and morality, the details where kept more than secret. The crew of Myca's ship, the SC Determination, wasn't told anything, until a cloaked shuttle with nameless officers arrived, unloading a bomb like device.
Quickly a team was assembled to transport this device onto the surface of a Luslaian Colony, arm it and leave before it explodes.

Before Myca could give any snippy remark, she was already part of the team transporting the bomb down onto the planet.
But things did not go as planned.
After the shuttle landed, the team carefully moved further into the colony to plant the device and quickly extract again.
The Colony, being placed on the border of the Luslaian Utopia, was prepared for such eventuality, tailoring the fauna to sense and report any kind of unusual creatures - such as Myca and her team.
Once they arrived at the designated area and placed down the device, the defensive forces of the colony attacked.
While Myca and some of the others defended their position, the commanding officer decided it would be best to instantly activate the device instead of a timer as initially planned.

Luckily, the device did not detonate, like assumed, but instead opened up and sprayed out little particles. Spores. Spores from different kind of mushrooms producing different chemical compounds and other biological dangers.
The bioengineered plants and animals around them reacted immediately, but the planet was free of mushrooms and the Luslaian biotech was unable to understand spores and mushrooms, as they are neither plants nor animals.

Devastating Effects soon followed, as the tech manipulated the spores, leading to Mushrooms growing out of people and cruel zombie hybrids being created.
Myca watched in horror as her crew-mates died horribly or mutated into things beyond imagination. She was full of fear, expecting the same to happen to her. When it started, it was surprisingly painless. Instead it felt more like her consciousness was suddenly growing, leaving her body behind, being more than just a Coyote. As if she was floating through space and could see so much more than ever.

The spores that landed on Myca weren't of a parasitic species of mushroom nor of one that was particular deadly. The Biotech, not being able to separate Myca from the mushrooms on her, fused her and the organism, similar to some of the other victims. Other than those she however survived this process and managed to remain mostly herself, thanks to the adaptability of coyotes.

Once she woke up from the change, she crawled back to the shuttle and evacuated, as last survivor, back to the SC Determination.
Quarantine
Upon arriving back on the SC Determination, Myca was put into Quarantine. Afterall, she came into contact with Biotech and a Bioweapon.

Officially she was promoted to Lieutenant Commander and relocated into Weapon Development. Unofficially she was locked into a lab and studied like a wild animal.
At first, she was rather patient and understanding, but once she catched word that they did figure out that it's neither lethal nor infectious, she got uncooperative.

She started to try and see what her new and altered body could do, what those parts of her consciousness that weren't tied to her body could do, resisting the experiments and using her newfound abilities to be a pain in the ass.

Eventually she was allowed to work on weapons and design them, to get her cooperative enough to make more experiments.
Myca, knowing she couldn't fight her way out of this, played along and worked on a plan. She wanted to create a weapon that could cause so much chaos that she could flee in the chaos that occured during it's testing. A Particle lance. Made for ships as big as cities, able to tear whole regions apart by focusing light and particles into a devastating ray.

During one of the tests of a smaller prototype, a yellow breach opened up and pulled her away, just as she hit the big red button.
Inventory
Items
Laser Cuter (Edit)
A tool shaped like a cylinder, roughly 16cm longer and about 1,5 wide. It has a crystal like lense at the front, focusing light to heat metal. Depending on how it's used, it can either be used to weld together wires and metal, cut through the same or etch into circuitboards.
The tool is however not as powerful as a lasersword or heavy machinery, limiting it to thin metals with around 8 mm of thickness.
It's powered by a small energy cell which should be good for around a year, depending on usage.
Screw Driver (Edit)
Myca's screwdriver looks quite similar to her Laser Cuter, being a lengthy cylinder. It has a few bits in the back and an energy cell, allowing the user to screw and unscrew screws.
Cylinder with Dirt (Edit)
A Cylinder shaped like the other Tools, it's however simply filled with Dirt from Thuliv and a small metal net, so that one can smell the dirt. It's said that as long as you have a part of your home with you, you'll return, so Myca build this to seemlessly fit in with her equipment without giving away that she believes in this superstition.
Cyberdeck (Edit)
A roughly 16 cm by 10 cm sized device, although it's roughly 4 cm thick. It has a touchscreen and can be slid open to reveal a PC keyboard. It is comparable to a modern low power processor, has a fairly reasonable battery and runs an AU-Version of Linux. It main use is as a maintenance device to repair and maintain things like a Reactor, Weapon Systems or Torpedoes. While it, in theory, could be used to power one of those it would do so sub-optimal.

Looks like this: https://www.reddit.com/r/cyberDeck/comments/urla8d/a_cyberdeck_could_be_rethought_of_as_an_enclosure/?show=original
Weapons
Makeshift Plasma Pistol
  • A Make-Shift Weapon that Myca crafted for her escape plan. It creates a plasma bolt out of gas which, depending on the Setting, can harm or stun a target. It should be good for about 100 shots before it needs to be refilled.
  • Effective range from character: 20 Meters
Skills
Combat
  • Combat Training
    • Training:
The space is a dangerous space, where nobody can here you scream… Given the unknown dangers of space, particularly on a warship, Myca received training with the default army Plasmapistol and Rifle, focused on the close quarter combat within a spaceship and city or foreests, with only little to know training in fights over greater distances.
This also includes a few missions outside of the ship, like the one causing her to be what she is now.
Non-combat
  • Landscaping
    • Description:
Myca has been digging Dens and other hide-outs since being a little yoplet, playing around with plants and trees. While she isn't capable of cutting tress into form, she can certainly dig tunnels and den and resettle plants if need be.
  • Artisan
    • Description:
Through her first touches with engineering, Myca is experienced with building mechanical things, things like robots or model car or interesting contraptions.
  • Coding
    • Description:
Myca has experience in writing code for weapon systems and turrets in a few different programming languages.
Education
  • High School
Your Traditional Futuristic High School Education, covering Math, English and Zar, Chemistry, Biology, Physics and for some reason sports.
  • University Degree as Spaceship Engineer
A University degree that covers everything important to Spaceships and their components. How to design, develop, build or maintain them. This covers, among other things, Math, Physics, Engineering and a bit of Chemistry. Myca focused on Weapon Engineering.
Language
  • English
  • Zarq
Parnormal Abilities
Improved Heterotrophical Feeding (Edit)
  • Description:
Mushrooms eat in a heterotrophical way, like many animals do, which means that they get their nutrition from organic Matter. Now the difference between Mushrooms and eg. Wolfs is that Mushrooms dissolve any kind of organic matter before absorbing it to fulfil their needs.
Since Myca is partially a fungus, she is able to dissolve most organic matter in her tummy to feed on it. Not just Meat and Vegetables, but also wood and carrion or rotting meat.
She is not fully aware of that just yet.
  • Limits:
    Only applies to organic matter
  • Repercussions:
    May cause tummy ache.
Gestalt Consciousness (Edit)
  • Description:
While Myca considers herself an individual, she's technically not tied to the senses of her coyote body or the body itself. Instead her consciousness spans across all colonies of the fungus that fused with her, not just the one growing on her. This is limited to the specific strain of bioengineered, mutated fungus with bioengieering capabilities that is 'her' and does not affect any other mushrooms.
She is capable of sensing all those colonies, the rough temperature and humidity around them and whether or not pressure is applied to them.
Furthermore Myca can produce spores to found new colonies in habitable areas.
While this ability alone can't do much, it is the base for most other abilities.
Myca does know that she can found new colonies and let fungus grow around her, but she isn't yet aware that it's part of her.
  • Limits:
Myca can not see, hear or smell through her colonies.
  • Other:
Note: I would like this ability to work across the multiverse, to play on abstract kinds of identities, magic and ascension.
This would be limited to universes that Myca has peviously visited through other methods. She could then sense the aformentent things from colonies in other universes and could potentially travel between them if she grew a second body in the targeted Universe (which will take at least 6 months of preparation) and can not bring any items or anything else with her as just her consicousness is transferred from one body to another.
Fungal Spores (Edit)
  • Description:
Myca is capable of releasing spores for different purposes. As mentioned above to found new colonies, which are semi-independent. They grow on their own and feed on the surrounding plants and carcasses, but when it comes to the consciousness and senses, they are an extension of Myca's body.
Alternatively she can use those spores to defend herself by expelling them towards a potentional danger, causing different unpleasent effects depending on different factors. Among others, these are dizziness, swelling and tearing eyes, immune responses, itchiness and heavy
This ability may have other uses that can be discovered in the future.
Myca knows that she can release these spores but not that she can use them to defend herself.
  • Limits:
This ability can not be used to 'infect' a character and add them to Myca's consciousness or puppet them like a zombie.
Fungal Growth (Edit)
  • Description:
While the Mycelia growth on Myca is mostly stagnant, fruit bodies still grow on her. This can vary between different kind of mushrooms, providing different benefits. These have to be mushrooms who have been assimilated by Myca previously, but she can assimilate new ones.
Myca currently does not know that she can control which mushrooms she can grow on her mycelia, how to do that or what each mushroom is doing.
Currently Fruit Bodies with the following uses can grow on her:
A fruit body that contains fiber, which can be used in textiles, different fruit bodies that contain anti-bacterial ingredient, a poisonous fruit body, which can cause a severe immune reaction that can end deadly, if untreated, different digestible fruit bodies, that are a rich source of protein and have different tastes, as well as some that can be used as isolation or as filters.
  • Limits:
The growth is limited to roughly a pound unless Myca absorbs additional biomass to convert to additional growth.
Chitinous Armor (Edit)
  • Description:
Like some mushrooms, Myca is able to grow chitinous plates on her body to protect herself. This could protect against small arms fire, but said armor takes several hours to grow and similar long to remove.
Myca is currently not aware of this ability.
Fungal Immortality (Edit)
  • Description:
While Myca's body can be stopped just as easily as any other Coyote of her size using bullets and blades, actually killing her is *far* more complicated than that.
Since Myca's consciousness stretches among all colonies of her fungus, the only way to truly *kill* her is to extinguish all colonies, although magical means or certain electric lifeforms might also succeed at doing so without having to find all 'parts' of Myca.
Her Main or original Body can survive as long as about a third of it is left. Depending on which third that is, Myca might temporarily be immobile or has to eat in a more mushroom like manor until the rest of her body regrew.
If more than that is destroyed or the wrong parts, the body might no longer be usable, causing Myca's mind to retreat into her network of Colonies, until one of them manages to regrow a new body out of a former carcass or animal. This can take a few Months.
Myca is currently not aware of this ability.
